The beautiful, wooded areas, lakes and ponds combined with the close proximity to the mountains, the shore and the metropolitan NY area surely makes it unique and a wonderful place to live. But all this beauty and convenience also comes with a few challenges (besides the traffic)...ticks, mosquitoes & fleas!

Often times we are driven back inside after planning an outdoor dinner or party because of these pests. And nothing is worse than a swollen, itchy mosquito bite…or finding the dreaded tick on yourself, your child or your pet! But besides being a nuisance, ticks and mosquitoes can also transmit disease.

Personally, my family was affected by Lyme Disease. Back in the early 2000's, my daughter, dogs and I were all diagnosed with Lyme Disease. These diagnoses came after implementing many of the recommended precautions, like long sleeves and bug spray, to prevent the bites i n the first place! I was angry and I wanted to safely enjoy being outside again. So, I did what most moms do, I started to do some research about mosquito and tick control to reduce my family's and pets' risk of becoming infected and we started to treat our own yard. After trial and error, we had success. And then our neighbors asked, so we helped them. And then friends asked, so we helped them. And then friends of friends... you get the picture. Along the way, from these grassroots, Backyard Bug Busters was born.
