Our Synthetic option is a pyrethroid. A pyrethroid is a man-made compound derived from the head of the Chrysantemum flower. Pyrethroids are used in numerous commercial products which are used to control insects. A few of these products include household insecticides, pet shampoos, sprays, and even some lice shampoos which are applied directly to the scalp. A risk v. benefit analysis saw the advantages of permethrin dramatically outweighing the risks of non-treatment. In a comparative test with DEET when applied directly to the skin, typically less than 1% of the active Permethrin ingredient is absorbed into the body. DEET is typically absorbed over twenty times that rate.

Effective control is based on lot size, plus also the density of landscaping (bushes, shrubs, mulch beds, etc), which need treatment. Additionally, we will identify and treat other common areas typically used as mosquito and tick resting sites, including under decks, rock walls, leaf piles, near drainage spouts and other shady, moist areas. We will look for active larvae populations and treat them accordingly. After inspection and application, our technician will identify any potential breeding grounds in or around your yard and make their recommendations on a post-service email or text.
